Sustainability approach

Our approach to sustainable development is driven by our commitment to provide a responsible leaflet distribution service, whilst striving to facilitate market growth for all our clients.

We are guided by our principles and values and adhere to robust operating standards and procedures that have delivered a proven track record. Our sustainable development approach is integrated into the company’s planning and decision making with a foundation of policies and positions, action plans, performance indicators, engagement and transparent reporting.

The principles that drive our sustainability approach:

Going above and beyond in everything we do
Sustainability for us and the planet
Create, Learn and Share
Accept new challenges
Transparency in what we do
Accountability
Strictly conform to our standards, processes and procedures

Important Issues:

Our business faces many challenges and opportunities. Due to the direct impact on our stakeholders and our business, we have prioritised the following issues:

air pollution from transportation
ocean and land pollution from plastics and clean up
wastage of paper and other natural resources and the use of sustainable sources
recycling and re-use of materials, particularly paper and plastics

Our Commitment & Scope

Our attention to environmental, social and economic responsibility includes working within the law and voluntarily exceeding legal requirements to be innovative and demonstrate leadership on the issues that are important to our stakeholders and to ourselves. When we organise every leaflet distribution, transport materials and our staff and evaluate our success we are able to choose every day in big and small ways how our actions and words build a better quality of life for our employees, clients, suppliers and the communities we have an impact on by our work.

We acknowledge we have limited influence over third parties such as transport companies and printers and marketing agencies hired directly by our clients. While we cannot control the decisions of these parties, we commit to educate them of our policy and encourage them to align operating practices with policy objectives.

Our sustainability commitment will apply to all work undertaken by our organisation. This is assumed to include every leaflet distribution we conduct on behalf of our clients, and when ordered from us, preference of choice in using recycled materials for the leaflets delivered, as well as every transportation issue connected with the leaflet distribution. Staff and contractors are expected to uphold objectives under this policy to the fullest extent possible within prevailing budgets.

We encourage our clients to always use recycled paper for their leafleting by offering special or additional discounts and offers on their follow up orders when they choose to print their leaflets on sustainable materials such as recycled paper.

At the time of receiving all and any marketing materials for distribution we will grade the sustainability of the materials used, the packaging and where possible the transportation impact. We will keep records of every grading to enable us to assess the further effect of our work to the community and the environment. We publish our findings in our annual sustainability report and will make it available online.

Where clients have chosen for any reason not to use sustainable packaging, materials and transportation for their leaflet distribution with us, we will set aside 2% of our net profit from each of these orders. We deposit all revenues in our Sustainability Projects bank account and use these to fund our various international environmental and sustainability efforts. We assist in research into improving sustainability, sustainable development and environmental impact across the planet with the participation and direct involvement of our staff and senior management. Such projects include funding research into improving paper recycling, plastics, current practices across different countries and communities, research on climate change caused by pollution in the air on land and the oceans, promoting health and sustainable living and development within vulnerable or indigenous communities whose traditional lives have been endangered by modernisation and industrialisation. We also encourage volunteering in conservation, clean-up and other projects.

We produce regular and annual publications on all sustainability and environmental projects as well as funding we have made available.

We encourage our own employees, senior management and contractors to participate in such projects by allowing them to take time off from work whether paid, unpaid or partially funded and sponsoring their participation. This is based on pre-approved projects and funding and on pre-approved rotas based on their position and the impact of our work.

We have a particular interest in funding projects that research the use and improvement of the use of alternative fibres other than tree fibres and the impact of such a change on a global scale within forestry and indigenous groups.
